About This Piece

In this piece, David reimagines the Afanc, a legendary Welsh lake monster, through a creative transformation of an antique diver's postcard. Initially conceived as a different concept, the image evolved when the folkloric creature emerged as the central narrative. By incorporating classic elements of the Afanc myth - maidens, chains, and a Lovecraft-inspired monster - he crafts a haunting interpretation of Welsh mythology. The work demonstrates how a single found image can spark a complex mythological reimagining, shifting from an initial concept to a fully realized mythic scene.

The unframed print is available in 2 sizes.

For an additional fee, the print can be purchased ready to hang, mounted in a black rimmed frame, with a picture wire on the rear.

Technical Specifications

Each print is made using the finest ingredients, and there is no low grade, unmanaged “print on demand” here. David creates, inspects, packages and posts each print himself. They are printed using a Canon Giclée printer and archival inks on heavyweight matte 308gsm Hahnemuhle Photo Rag paper, ensuring both the best colour matching and archival stability.
