About This Piece

David discovered a small, fragile photographic artifact from the early 20th century depicting men in gas masks walking through a park - a mysterious image that immediately captured his imagination. Despite its diminutive size, he was determined to transform the photograph into a substantial artwork.

Using optical equipment and digital techniques, he meticulously enlarged and manipulated the image, employing digital painting, cutting, and rearrangement. The resulting piece, "Contagion", emerged as a powerful artistic response to the global experiences of recent years, particularly the pandemic. By repurposing this historical fragment, David created a compelling visual narrative that reflects collective trauma and resilience.
