About This Piece

A new artwork explores the legendary Welsh giant Idris, capturing him in his younger days working alongside two elderly farmers. The pencil drawing depicts Idris towering over his human companions, having gathered an impossibly large mound of hay while the farmers - one with a scythe, the other with a sickle - look on against a brooding Welsh mountain landscape.

Inspired by George Clausen's 'In The Fields In June' from the National Museum of Wales, the artwork blends mythological scale with rural realism. It represents the artist's ongoing fascination with how mythical figures intersect with everyday life, revealing the magical potential hidden within cultural imagination.

The drawing itself was made with a range of graphite pencils on an A2 (59.4cm x 42cm) piece of heavyweight cartridge paper (220gsm) and finished with a professional fixative and matt varnish.
