About This Piece

Inspired by old Welsh funerary traditions and the practice of Claddu y marw, ac at y cwrw—which translates as "To bury the dead, and to the beer"—this artwork draws on customs akin to the Irish Wake, once common across Wales. According to British Goblins, these gatherings sometimes descended into fights and other unruly behaviour.

This served as the starting point for the piece, reimagined with a playful twist. The idea of a couple of skeletons getting drunk in a moonlit graveyard felt like a natural progression, bearing in mind the artist's dark sense of humour.

Size And Frame

David offers the piece framed. The original piece is approximately A5 sized - 21cm x 14.8cm (8.3 inches x 5.8 inches). The piece is float-mounted on grey card in a black rimmed frame for ease of display with a hanging bar on the rear, or can be freestanding with a kick stand.
